Daily Announcements 5/01/2023

Congrats to the Junior High Academic Teams for their excellent performance at the Junior Academic Superbowl on Saturday. Math, English, and Interdisciplinary teams finished first in class at the area competition with Science and Social Studies finishing second. We will know the statewide results this week. Great job, teams!

Seniors: The cookout traditionally follows your graduation rehearsal and is held under the concession stand pavilion. We will have prize giveaways for those who attend. Please go to your “Seniors 2023” Schoology group page & fill out the cookout survey by May 3rd.  (Your graduation rehearsal & cookout will be Friday, June 2nd.)  Thank you! 

The Monroe Central High School Art Club is hosting a Cookies & Canvas fundraising event on Tuesday, May 9th from 6-8pm in the high school art room. Tickets are $20 and include a canvas, materials, painting lesson, and refreshments. Spots are limited! Please contact Ms. Lillian McClung via email or phone to reserve your spot. 

Attention Seniors – Senior Workday T-shirts will be passed out on WEDNESDAY 5/10. Senior Work day is Friday, 5/12 from 8:30 – 12:00 with lunch to follow at the football field. This year we will be working in Parker City, Farmland, and the Conservation Club. Group Sign-up forms are now on the Senior class Schoology page.

Juniors and Seniors, prom 2023’s theme is “A Night on Cloud 9.” Prom Bids are on sale during A lunch until May 12th. A single ticket is $20, and a couple is $40.

The teachers’ association is selling beef sticks before and after school. Mrs. Van Pelt will be outside room 110 each morning selling and in her room (115) after school.

The Varsity Golfers traveled to Winchester Golf Club on Saturday for the Winchester Invitational hosting 15 teams from around the area. The Bears played their best golf of the season and shot a 363 as a squad. However, playing tough competition, the Bears finished 10th out of the 15 teams. The Bears were led by Coltan West with an 87, Bentley Thornburg with an 88, Cohen West with a 93, Hayden Taylor with a 95, and Rigley Braun with a 105. The Bears host the Daleville Broncos on Tuesday.

The Golden Bear track teams traveled to South Adams on a cold and rainy night. The boys took 2nd in the meet and the girls finished 6th!
