Daily Announcements 5/20/2021

Senior slideshow pictures are due by Friday. Please check the senior group page to see if we still need your picture. We would hate to leave anyone out.

Come one, come all to Masque and Gavel´s opening night of Anne of Green Gables!! Tonight´s performance is at 7:30 p.m. The cost is $5 for students and $8 for adults.

Reminder: Friday, May 21st all library books are to be returned. Please be sure to get them to the library so as to avoid any library overdue notices or fines. Thank you!

Library Book Sale is now open to students. Paperback copies are 25 cents & hardbound copies are 50 cents each. Stop by the library during study hall, during lunch on Gold days or after school. Book sale will end on Wednesday, May 25th.

Attention Current Junior Class Officers: There will be a current junior, incoming senior class officers meeting in the cafeteria on Monday beginning at 5:30 p.m. Please plan to attend. If you are unable to attend, please let Mr. Retherford know.

Cross Country 2021 sign up sheets are in the main office. Please sign up as soon as possible. June 8th 6pm is the parent meeting with practice to follow at 7pm. Voluntary Practices will be Tuesday and Thursday nights.

Junior High Students: Ball State University and The Entrepreneurial Leadership Institute are excited to announce two new innovation and entrepreneurship camps for youth in grades 4th-8th this summer, June 15th and 17th. The camps are designed for those students who like to think with their hands and play outside of the box. Our campers will enjoy a full day of creative, imaginative and entrepreneurial activities. Students will walk away with a new way of thinking and actual prototypes of their new designs. Please see Mrs. Swift in Student Services for more information.

There will be a hat day this Friday to raise money for the Class of 2025. Please bring $1 to wear a hat!

Attention Jr. High and High School Students: It isn’t too late to order a yearbook, but the deadline is fast approaching. For the first time ever, no extra books will be available for sale after the books are delivered in late August or early September, so THIS FRIDAY, MAY 21st is the final deadline for purchase! Ask your parents to go to jostens.com to buy the book. If you have questions, see Ms. Barton in room 108. Books will be on sale during lunch on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. The price is still $45–a $5 savings from last year’s book.

IU Foundations in Science and Mathematics Program is a Summer educational program which offers courses in biology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, astronomy, and computer programming to rising and current high school students. Any student interested in more information, see Mrs. Swift in Student Services.

The Indiana Sheriff’s Association will be sponsoring two sessions of the Youth Leadership Camp this summer, June 28 – July 1. This program is for boys and girls currently in the 7th or 8th grade and are interested in learning more about law enforcement. See Mrs. Swift in Student Services for more information.

The Jr. High Track teams finished their season at the County meet with two 2nd place finishes and 15 season best times!

County Champions were:
Ethan Hunt – 100M Dash and 200M Dash
Addison Puckett – 400M Dash
Easton Foster – High Jump – breaking his own record with a jump of 6’1″

Other notable performances were:
2nd place: Easton Foster (400), Tre Davidson (LJ), 400M Relay – Bolton, Phelps, Erwin, Av Thomas, 1600M Relay – Lester, Ervin, Av Thomas, Puckett

3rd place: Justus Ullom (Hurdles, 100), Griffin Gannom (400), Ava Phelps (200), Preston Erwin (HJ), 400M Relay – Davidson, Erwin, Foster, Hunt, 1600M – L Dance, Wagner, Gannom, Wines

4th place: Sophia Bolton (100), Lane Dance (1600), Justus Ullom (LJ)

5th place: Ava Phelps (Hurdles), Easton Foster (Hurdles), Max Wagner (800), Tre Davidson (200)

Reminders:
Masks need to be worn at all times covering both your mouth and your nose except for when eating or drinking. By doing so, contact tracing becomes more minimized.
Hats and hoods should not be worn anywhere in the building. Hats should be left in lockers during the school day.
As we approach warmer weather, it’s important that students revisit the dress code in the student handbook to make sure that they dress appropriately for school.
Teachers have been directed to refer violators to administration for possible disciplinary consequences.
