Attention students grades 9-12 who want to be a class officer or on student council: Wednesday will be the last day to get your name on the ballot for class officers or student council members. Message Mrs. Van Pelt if interested and let her know which position you are interested in.

School Picture Day is scheduled for Thursday, August 24th. Please bring your completed envelope on Picture Day if you wish to purchase. All students will have their picture taken on that day for the yearbook regardless of purchase decision. For any questions or replacement envelopes, please see Mr. Sims.
Seniors – Please make sure to wear a nice shirt on picture day (Thursday, August 24th) as this will be the picture on the senior composite.
Book Club Update: High School & Jr HIgh book club members please check Schoology Bookclub Groups for new information! Anyone wishing to join one of our book clubs please submit your registration form to Mrs. Landis by Thursday, August 31st. Thanks!
Students grades 9-12 interested in running for either class officers or student council members need to send a schoology message to Mrs. Van Pelt or one of their class sponsors by Wednesday August 23. We will do the voting after that.
MCCTA is still selling beef sticks before school and after school in the junior high and high school hallways (outside room 110) and in Mrs. Van Pelt’s room.
The Golden Bear football team dropped its opener Friday at Winchester 42-13. Several players played significant roles. Nick Hendrickson hit his first extra point for the Bear’s! The team had one turnover and no fumbles! We play at home against Union City this Friday!!!
On Saturday August 19, Monroe Central hosted their annual Meister Family Memorial Cross Country Invitational. The boys team placed 5th with Eli Chamberlain leading the way placing 14th. Lane Dance, Jackson Wines, and Zadok Lloyd were not far behind placing 17th, 19th and 25th. Nathan and Wyatt Daniels, Stephen Stockwell, Noah Moery, and Zayne Sampley also tan well. The girls team came out as the champion with Addison Coe taking the title as first overall. Avery Thomas, Andi Watson, and Katie Osborne weren’t far behind placing 4th, 6th, and 9th. Gracie Baker, Mackenzie Pryor, Addy Puckett, Alivia Arvin, Makaylah Brainerd, and Ailey Moon also finished strong! Our next meet is on Wednesday August 23rd at Pendleton Heights for the Arabian Roundup!
The Jr High Cross Country teams had an impressive start to their season at Saturday’s Meister Invitational. The Boys team came in first out of 10 teams. The Girls team was second out of six complete teams. Jed Ferguson was the overall Boys champion, finishing 1st out of 110 boys with an impressive time of 12:12. Alexander Coe was the next Bear across the finish line in 6th place. Adrin Milhollin and Avan Johnson made their running career debuts coming in 13th and 17th place. Ashton Dance wasn’t far behind in 20th place. Will Hinshaw had a great start to his running career, coming in 37th. Devin Baker completed the top 7, coming in 58th. Braxton Wright, Caleb Bailey, and Alex Sides all had great races as well.
Abree Ervin had a strong finish, passing an opponent on the track who had a sizable lead to come in 3rd overall out of 69 runners. Abby Thomas and Brylie Tinsman finished well in 5th and 6th places. Lillie Moery was next, coming in 15th place. Bryn Patterson came in at a strong 17th place. Brynlee Dumpert and Mila Morris completed the top 7, at 27th and 28th places. The remaining Lady Bears all earned season best times: Oaklie Davis, Megan DeVoss, Scarlett Davis, Charlee Morris, Avery Kehoe, Makayla Daniels, Cheyanne Fortreide, Amaryah Lloyd, Hannah Fortreide, and Haidyn Dumpert.
