The JV/V Cross Country meet scheduled for this evening at Pendleton has been canceled. Practice will be held inside the high school at 4:15pm.
The junior high football game for this evening at Winchester has been canceled. Practice will be in hall gym after school until 4:30pm
Attention students grades 9-12 who want to be a class officer or on student council: Today is the last day to get your name on the ballot for class officers or student council members. Please message Mrs. Van Pelt by the end of study hall today.
High School Book Club: Please check the Bookclub Schoology Group. We have a tie between bookclub name choices and a NEW Google form is available to cast your votes to break the tie. May the best bookclub name win!!!
School Picture Day is scheduled for tomorrow, August 24th. Please bring your completed envelope on Picture Day if you wish to purchase. All students will have their picture taken on that day for the yearbook regardless of purchase decision. For any questions or replacement envelopes, please see Mr. Sims.
Seniors – Please make sure to wear a nice shirt on picture day tomorrow, August 24th, as this will be the picture on the senior composite.
MCCTA is still selling beef sticks before school and after school in the junior high and high school hallways (outside room 110) and in Mrs. Van Pelt’s room.
The Monroe Central Lady Bears hosted Yorktown Tuesday at Hickory Hills Golf Club. The Tigers defeated the Bears 209-217. The MC golfers shaved 28 strokes from their score from Monday night with a season team low.

Monroe Central goes on the road to play Hagerstown Wednesday at Hartley Hills Golf Club.
The heat didn’t slow down the Jr High Cross Country teams as they both came out victorious against Driver in a 2-way meet on Tuesday evening. The Boys team won with a score of 25 over Driver’s 30 points. Jed Ferguson led the Bears again tonight, coming in 2nd place. Alexander Coe was next, coming in 3rd. Devin Baker finished out the top 7, coming in 13th place. Alex Sides ran well, coming in 18th place. The Girls team nearly had a perfect score with 16 points against Driver’s 47. Abree Ervin’s hard work paid off as she pushed into 1st place to win the race. Abby Thomas ran well, coming in 2nd. Brylie Tinsman finished 3rd. Brynlee Patterson finished in a great spot at 7th place. Oaklie Davis, Megan DeVoss, and Charlee Morris all earned top 20 ribbons.
The Lady Bears volleyball team traveled to Southern Wells to take on the Raiders on Tuesday night. JV started out strong winning their first match, but lost taking them to 3. Taylor Oren led in kills with 3, Maria Oliphant led in aces with 4, and Angie Burress led in digs with 12. The varsity team swept the raiders in 3. Maggie Haney led with 7 kills and 3 blocks. Liz Chamberlain leading with 8 aces and 8 digs. Aubrey Johnson led with 12 assists.
The Lady Bears play again on 8/23 in the Bear Den against the Union Rockets. JV starts at 6.
