Daily Announcements 9/07/2023

 

Students in grades 9-12: Please remember to get on schoology and vote for the harvest king and queen representatives for your class. Voting will end today at noon.

There are auditions after school for the school play on September 12th and 13th from 3:30 to 5:00 p.m.  This will be held in the cafetorium. Possible callbacks on the 14th of September if necessary. 

Monroe Central is gauging interest for a new photography club. Any high school student who would be interested in joining is asked to send a Schoology message to Mr. Sims no later than September 19th. This opportunity is currently open to students in grades 9-12 only.

School Picture Retake Day is scheduled for the morning of October 5th. If you are in need of retakes or missed the original picture day, please plan to have your photo taken on this date. Any questions may be directed to Mr. Sims.

There will be a Harvest Homecoming semi-formal dance for students in grades 9-12 on Saturday, September 23rd from 7-10pm in the high school cafeteria. Tickets will be sold at the door, $15 for couples and $8 for singles. If you are bringing a student from a different school, please make sure to fill out a dance request form. These are due back to the school by Friday, September 22. 

After school help will be every Tuesday and Thursday. This is for all grades and all subjects. It will be held in room 118 for the next two weeks.

MCCTA is still selling beef sticks before school and after school in the junior high and high school hallways (outside room 110) and in Mrs. Van Pelt’s room.

The junior high football team improved to 2-0 with a win over Shenandoah last night. A great team performance got the Bears to a comfortable lead by the second half with scores coming from Caleb Luedike, Luke Morgan, and Myles Oliphant.

The varsity volleyball team traveled to Alexandria to play the Tigers on Wednesday night, September 6th. The bears won taking the tigers to 4. Maggie Haney led in kills with 13, Hadley Henderickson led in aces with 3, and Aubrey Johnson leading in digs with 13, and assists with 22. The Lady Bears next game is in the Bear Den Thursday night September 7th against the Delta Eagles. JV starts at 6.

Last night was a great night for MC Cross Country! Although the Jr High Boys team was outnumbered 3 to 1 against Selma, they still came out strong and finished in first place with a score of 24 to 31.  The girls team ran an impressive perfect race, with the first 6 girls across the line being MC Lady Bears! Jed Ferguson finished first overall with a time of 12:24.  Alexander Coe finished 3rd.  Devin Baker finished in 22nd place.  Alex Sides continues to work hard this season, finishing 30th overall tonight. Abree Ervin came in 1st tonight with a time of 14:30.  Brylie Tinsman finished second and Abby Thomas 3rd.  Brynlee Patterson finished 4th.  Oaklie Davis was 13th overall.  Megan DeVoss earned a ribbon as well, coming in 16h place.  Charlie Morris pushed through to get 21st place.  Avery Kehoe finished in 25th place.  Makayla Daniels and Haidyn Dumpert looked strong, coming in 27th and 29th places.  Cheyanne Fortreide didn’t give up and finished the race in 30th place. The Bears will run next at the Randolph Southern Invitational this Saturday morning.

The Monroe Central Lady Bears golf team was defeated by Northeastern 203-207 at Hickory Hills. This is the season low for the girls. Monroe Central Scores:

We want to thank our Seniors for all their dedication to the program. We love you! The MC Bears will play again on Thursday at Winchester Golf Club against Wes Del,  and Randolph Southern.
