The Golden Bear football team won the Harvest Helmet match up with conference rival Wes-Del last Friday night 38-0. The win makes the team 3-1 on the season. One monumental achievement in the game was the unofficial first ever field goal by kicker Elijah “Kicking Bear” Taylor. He hit the field goal on a 26 yard attempt and later just barely missed from just outside 40 plus yards. The team had just one turnover making the season total at 4 through four games This week the team plays highly touted Eastern Hancock. The game has major implications regarding the MEC title, a title that the Golden Bears have never officially won. The new conference alignment did not recognize champions until the 2017 season.
