Daily Announcements 04/09/2024

All Juniors and Seniors will attend the Randolph County Career Fair on April 18th from 12:30-1:30 at the 4-H Fairgrounds. Students will leave school right after lunch at 12 and return to MC at 2. If you are enrolled in a PM MACC program or PM WBL program you will have the option to attend those programs as usual but are encouraged to attend the career fair. All absences will be excused from the MACC and WBL. Please see Mrs. Moran with any questions.

Seniors – Jostens will be here on April 23rd during lunch to pass out caps and gowns and other senior items.

The Indiana Santa Claus Society is having a disaster relief toy drive for Winchester and Selma. Please bring new toys to the high school office and put them in the large green donation box. 

Seniors: Please do not forget to check the Student Services Senior Schoology Group periodically. There are many postings of scholarship opportunities, college events, apprenticeship programs, graduation requirement information and more. Do not miss out on an opportunity! Please see Mrs. Swift in Student Services with any questions.

After School Help is available on Tuesdays and Thursdays until 4pm.

The MCCTA (Mrs. Van Pelt) is selling granola bars, 2 bars for $1.

The Varsity Bears softball team lost to a solid Union City team 19-2 on Friday. The game served as a great learning opportunity for the young team and helped pinpoint areas of improvement. 10 of 11 players had quality at bats. Aubrey Johnson went 2-3 with 1 run scored. Makaylah Brainerd, Jayme Brannan, and Zoie Hood each added a hit. Brannan had 2 RBIs and the only extra base hit for the Bears. Brainerd had 2 exceptional plays in centerfield and was able to get a double play. The Bears are back in action for conference play on Tuesday at home against Eastern Hancock.

Cole Luedike led the way going 2-4 with a single and a double along with a stolen base.  Carson Siekmann added 2 RBI’s.  Kyler Boague was 1-1. MC is back in action Saturday 4/6/24 @ 11am vs Alexandria. 

The Golden Bear track teams traveled to Wapahani Saturday to open up their season at the Raider Relays. Both teams placed 5th in their respective meets. Many good performances, and a lot of early season lessons learned.

Game 1

Alexandria- 10

MC- 2

Pence, Farmer, and Middleton all 1-2 at the plate.  Foster 1-1. Luedike added 3 walks. 

Game 2

Alexandria- 12

Monroe Central- 13

Monroe Central rallied in the bottom of the 6th with 6 runs to tie the game at 12.  Zane Tinsman singled in the winning run in the bottom of the 8th to give the Bears the victory.  Easton Foster drove in the first run in the 6th followed by Mason McCreery driving in 1 on a fielder’s choice.  Conner Baker lined a 2 RBI single into left field and Kyler Bogue finished the rally in the 6th with a line drive to center.  Jack Cooper got the win for the Bears throwing the last 2.1 scoreless innings in relief only allowing 1 hit.  The offense was led by Duncan, Foster, Bogue who tallied 2 hits a piece. Next game is Tuesday 4/9 at Home vs Eastern Hancock.
