Daily Announcements 11/17/2023

If you are donating an item for the Thanksgiving Food Baskets please bring those today!! Baskets will be made on Monday. Thanks to all who donated!!

Monroe Central FFA  will be hosting a chapter meeting tonight. The meeting will be right after school starting at 3:30. Several important items will be discussed at the meeting. Don’t forget to sign up to help with the pork chop dinner on Saturday. We want  to see everyone there!

There will be a call-out meeting on Tuesday, November 21st during Study Hall for any high school student interested in participating in this year’s Poetry Out Loud program. The meeting will be in Mrs. Braswell’s room. 

Monroe Central Masque & Gavel would like to invite you to the 2023 fall performance of “Robin Hood: The Next Generation” written by Shirley McNichols. The first link is to order tickets online through ShowTix4U.com. Seats are of various rates depending on their location.  Seats in the first row of round tables include dinner! This meal consists of fried chicken, mashed potatoes, salad, a roll, dessert, and drinks for evening performances. Saturday afternoon performance includes drinks and dessert. Anyone is welcome to pay cash at the door as well with any seats that were not previously purchased.

Monroe Central Youth Cheerleading presents Boots & Beauties, a father daughter dance on November 18th from 7pm-9pm at the MC Elementary Gym. Monroe Central students Pre-k through HS Seniors are invited to come. Cost is $20, each additional daughter is $5. 

The MCCTA (Mrs. Van Pelt) will be selling granola bars instead of beef sticks. They are 2 bars for $1.

After school help will be every Tuesday and Thursday. This is for all grades and all subjects. It will be held in room 118.

Monroe Central varsity girls basketball defeated Randolph Southern on Thursday night, 35-18. The Lady Bears dominated the first half defensively, heading into the half, the Bears held a 24-2 lead over the Rebels. Kimber Abshear led the Bears with 12 points, 7 rebounds and 5 blocks. Addy Puckett followed with 9 points and 4 steals while Maggie Haney finished with 7 points and 4 rebounds of her own. Monroe Central is now 4-1 on the season and are back in action on Saturday 11/25 at home against Northeastern at 2:30pm.

The Monroe Central 8th grade boys basketball team lost Thursday night to a very good Yorktown team 43-27 to fall to 1-1 on the young season. The Bears battled throughout the first 3 quarters keeping the game tight, but it slipped away at the end. The Bears return to action Monday vs rival Driver at home in Hall Gym. 

The 7th grade Bears lost a tough one to the Yorktown Tigers 42-36. We were led in scoring by Miles Gross with 24 points, Alex Middleton had 4, while Collin Baker and Carter Lucies each had 3. The Bears will be back in action in hall gym against Driver @ 6pm.
