The MC Academy will be accepting both non-perishable food and money donations for the Rex Amburn Memorial Food Drive. All donations can be dropped off in boxes by grade level on the stage in the cafeteria. The grade level that brings in the most items ($1 in cash = 1 item) will earn an ice cream sandwich for each student in that grade level at lunch. The need is great – we ask that you help us support this important food drive for the MC Community. Donations will be accepted through Friday, December 10th. As of today the donations to the food drive are as follows:
1st Place–9th Grade with 24 food items
2nd Place–8th Grade with 22 food items
3rd Place–11th Grade with 12 food items
4th Place–7th Grade with 7 food items and .01 cents in money
5th Place–10th and 12th grade are tied with 0 food items
Please remember that the competition ends this Friday, 12/10/21. The class with the most donations gets an ice cream sandwich for each student. Let’s help our community by bringing in donations for the food drive.

On Friday night the varsity boys basketball team beat Daleville 48-46. Brayden Matheny played a huge role scoring 10 pts, 2 assists, 3 rebounds and taking 2 charges. The Bears are 2-0 and play at Bluffton this Friday and then home on Saturday vs Wes-Del.

JV Boys Basketball was defeated by Daleville 48-31 Friday evening. The Bears were led by Carter Duncan with 11pts and Josiah Cleveland with 10 points. Bears will be back in action this weekend, Bluffton Friday night and at Home against Wes Del Saturday night.

On Saturday, December 4, the Lady Bears JV team defeated Winchester in two quarters. The Lady Bears were down at the end of the first quarter but made defensive adjustments to hold the Falcons to only 6 points for the remainder of the contest. Maggie Haney made a clutch 3 point shot and cinched the win with a made free throw during the final seconds of the game. Final score was 19-18, giving the JV squad a 7-1 record thus far.

Attention Baseball Players – Baseball practice Wednesday 5:30-7:30 pm.

7th grade: The lady bears hosted the Yorktown Tigers last night, however it didn’t go our way. The lady bears fell to the Tigers 11-31. Great ball movement came from the whole team as well as good defensive effort, but it just wasn’t enough.

8th grade: The lady bears fall just short of a victory after their loss to the Tigers 17-28. They attacked the basket and moved the ball around well. They also put a lot of shots up, but couldn’t get them to fall. In the end the pressure was too much, but that girls fought until the end. Our next game is Monday December 13th at Cowan. We hope to see you there.
