Daily Announcements 02/12/2024

On Monday, Feb. 12th, Monroe Central FFA will be hosting our monthly Chapter Meeting!  The meeting will start at 3:45 pm. The meeting will hold very important information about the upcoming FFA week. Come and enjoy some pizza, can’t wait to see you all there!

Jerry’s is accepting applications for summer 2024. Students must be 14 yrs or older. Applications are in the office.

Attention Seniors who are participating in any clubs/sports your senior year: Senior night will be on Friday, February 23, between the JV and varsity boys basketball games against Randolph Southern. Please stop by the office and pick up a senior night form. Forms need to be returned to Mrs. Murray by Friday, February 16. 

Juniors: The Randolph County Youth Salute nomination forms are available in Student Services. If you’ve served in a position of leadership at school, church, or community-sponsored organization, please stop by and pick up a form. All forms are due back to Student Services by March 1st. Please see Mrs. Moran with any questions.

After School Help is available on Tuesdays and Thursdays until 4pm.

The MCCTA (Mrs. Van Pelt) is selling granola bars, 2 bars for $1.

Results from county archery tournament – Top HS Team Monroe Central, Top Jr High Team Monroe Central. Top HS and Overall Male Colton Johnson, 2nd Place Male Dalton Wright, 3rd Place Male Doug Lankford. Top 12 all tournament team, Colton Johnson, Dalton Wright, Doug Lankford, Lucas Holliday,  Wyatt Daniels, Lindsey Wilson and Travis Reed!!!  Congratulations Bear Archers. The HS Team will be in action again this Saturday at the Northeastern Invitational! Go Bears!

The varsity Bears jumped out to an early lead against conference rival Wapahani. After the 1st quarter the bears ended up down 10 22-12. In the 2nd quarter the Bears just had too many turnovers and Wapahani took advantage of them. At halftime the bears were down 41-25. In the 3rd quarter Wapahani got the lead up to as many as 21 but the bears battled back to cut the lead to 13 with 3:30 to go. But the bears just couldn’t get any closer. The Bears lost the game 69-53. The Bears were led in scoring by Easton Foster and Josiah Cleveland with 19 points apiece.  

Josiah was 5-5 from 3 point range.

The JV bears came out and didn’t shoot the ball well and found themselves down 13-7. In the second quarter the bears didn’t rebound the ball well and found themselves down 21-15 at halftime. In the 3rd quarter the bears were down eight points early but battled back to only be down 1 at the quarter. In the 4th quarter the bears just couldn’t get over the hump to take the lead. The Bears ended up losing 39-31. The Bears were led in scoring by Jackson Konkle with 10.
