Daily Announcements 02/15/2024

Students will not attend school on Friday, February 16th or Monday, February 19th. Please enjoy your 4 day weekend!

The Monroe Central High School Art Club is hosting a Cookies & Canvas fundraising event on Tuesday, March 5th from 5-7pm in the high school art room. Tickets are $20 and include a canvas, materials, painting lesson, and refreshments. Anyone is welcome to attend! Spots are limited. Please contact Ms. Lillian McClung via email or phone to reserve your spot. 

Middle School Track Practices will begin on Monday, March 11th.  We will meet in the back of the high school cafeteria after school.  All athletes must have a physical on file before they can participate in practice and FinalForms completed.  Please come prepared for outdoor practice every day as we will go outside whenever possible

Jerry’s is accepting applications for summer 2024. Students must be 14 yrs or older. Applications are in the office.

Attention Seniors who are participating in any clubs/sports your senior year: Senior night will be on Friday, February 23, between the JV and varsity boys basketball games against Randolph Southern. Please stop by the office and pick up a senior night form. Forms need to be returned to Mrs. Murray by Friday, February 16. 

Juniors: The Randolph County Youth Salute nomination forms are available in Student Services. If you’ve served in a position of leadership at school, church, or community-sponsored organization, please stop by and pick up a form. All forms are due back to Student Services by March 1st. Please see Mrs. Moran with any questions.

After School Help is available on Tuesdays and Thursdays until 4pm.

The MCCTA (Mrs. Van Pelt) is selling granola bars, 2 bars for $1.

GOLDEN BEAR Middle school wrestlers took down the Cowan Blackhawks with a nail biting win of 39-37 great job guys! GO BEARS! 

In the first game of the county tournament, the Monroe Central 8th grade basketball team defeated Union City 46-24. After a slow start, the Bears surged in the 2nd Quarter to take a big lead into halftime, never looking back. The Bears were led in scoring by Luke Morgan with 24, followed by Weston Grove with 12 and Myles Oliphant with 10. In the county championship, the Bears were victorious after defeating rival Driver by a score of 37-26. Great team effort from start to finish guided the way for the Bears to pull off the 3-peat. The Bears were led in scoring by Luke Morgan with 25 and Weston Grove with 6. The Bears finished the season with an overall record of 13-9. Great season and even better finish! Go Bears!

The Monroe Central 7th Grade Boys Basketball team defeated rival driver, in the county championship 31-23. The Bears were led in scoring by Miles Gross with 14 points and Carter Lucies added 10 . The Bears finish the season 11-8
